Purpose
Sageweb publishes educational coverage of aging biology, longevity, lifespan research, model organisms and scientific resources. Our editorial goal is to make technical subjects understandable without overstating the strength, scope or practical implications of the evidence.
Evidence before conclusions
Articles should distinguish between hypotheses, experimental findings, observational associations and established conclusions. Results from cell culture or model organisms are described in that context and should not be presented as proof of an effect in humans.
Accuracy and context
Writers and editors are expected to preserve important qualifiers such as species, experimental design, dose, study population, endpoint and major limitations. When evidence is mixed, Sageweb should describe the disagreement rather than selecting a single result as definitive.
Health and intervention claims
Longevity research often involves compounds, diets, exercise, biomarkers and medical topics. Sageweb does not treat experimental lifespan extension as personal medical advice. Coverage of interventions should state what type of evidence exists and avoid implying guaranteed benefits, disease prevention or lifespan extension in people when those outcomes have not been established.
Historical resources
Sageweb documents research resources historically associated with the domain, including YODA and the Lifespan Observations Database. Historical relationships are described using publications, research registries and other source records. References to past institutions or researchers do not imply current affiliation.
Updates
Scientific understanding changes. Material may be revised when stronger evidence becomes available, when a source is corrected or retracted, or when an explanation can be made more accurate. Substantive errors are handled under the Corrections Policy.
Editorial independence
Editorial conclusions should be based on the available evidence and not on the interests of advertisers, sponsors, product manufacturers or external organizations. Any future sponsored or commercial relationships should be clearly distinguished from editorial content.
